The White House says President Trump plans to sign a government spending bill, but will also declare a national emergency so he can bypass Congress and build a border wall.

William Barr has been sworn in as Attorney General. The Senate on Thursday confirmed President Trump’s nominee in a vote of 54 to 45. Barr was sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

Amazon announced Thursday that it is scrapping plans to build a headquarters in New York City. The company’s decision came after some lawmakers said the tech giant did not deserve billions of dollars in government subsidies.

A large number of ISIS fighters are surrendering and those remaining in the town of Baghuz are fighting back, as civilians try to escape.
