Madison County Government Victim Of Cyber-Attack

Madison County has been hit by a major case of cyber-crime. Over the weekend, someone hacked the county’s computer system and installed ransomware – a type of software that blocks access to a computer system until a sum of money is paid. The Madison County Commissioners met in emergency session Saturday to discuss paying the ransom. While many of the county computer systems went down, voting records and ballots are held on a separate system and are reported to be unaffected.
