Three murders in five days and now a suspect in one of those homicides has been released. Police say 23 y ear old Eddie Demarcus Phillips was gunned down on the 700 block of South Hackley Street. He later died in the ER at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Detectives say a 20 year old Muncie man who shot Phillips was questioned and released in what the Star Press reports police are calling a case of self defense. Police say that man was lured to the area and shot at Phillips when he saw Phillips had a handgun as he approached him. That man then contacted police.
