Ball State has settled a lawsuit claiming use of excessive force and paid the complainant $10,000 to end the proceedings. The local bar patron was arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication three years ago outside a Dill Street bar. The University settled the case saying they believed they would prevail but the costs to go to federal court are significant.
