It’s July first, and the Star Press has a list of the new laws going into effect this month. Alcohol sales are changing. Local distilleries, breweries and wineries can now sell alcohol on Sundays, and farm wineries can fill growlers. Carry-outs are still prohibited.
Pharmacy customers who have prescriptions on file can buy pseudoephedrine without a prescription, but pharmacists can refuse to sell it to customers they don’t know.
Now the decision whether to release police body camera footage is up to local law enforcement. People who are denied can appeal to a judge.
And teacher background checks will include child welfare records to determine if teachers have child abuse or neglect cases against them, and limits confidentialty agreements between teachers and schools.
