An apparent homeless man was found dead during a call to an abandonded building on fire on North Madison Street late Friday night. The man’s been identified as 55-year-old Gregory Jackson. The cause of death as well as the cause of the fire were still unclear Saturday afternoon. Coroner Scott Hahn said an autopsy will be done. The fire department said it didn’t appear to be arson and the cause will likely remain unclear, but people who knew the victim said he was a smoker and used candles to see at night.
