A Madison County Circuit Court judge has ordered psychiatric examinations of a man who was shot at by Madison County Sheriff deputies when he refused to leave a home from which he was being evicted. The examinations are intended to determine 69-year-old Steven T. Slater’s competency to stand trial and what his state of mind was at the time of the Jan. 6 incident that led to his arrest.
