Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger is alerting you to another round of phone scams. The con artists will call and tell you that you missed jury duty and then request an electronic payment of a supposed court-ordered fine. Mellinger warns – There’s not a law enforcement agency that will call you at your home and have you pay some type of fine electronically. One call to a local number was traced by the FBI to the scam artist’s contraband cellphone in a Georgia prison.
