High Turn Out for Early In-Person Voting in Delaware County

“Exceptionally strong,” the words of Delaware County Clerk Rick Spangler about early in-person voting at the County building so far.  He reminds that the State deadline is this Thursday for your application for mail-in early voting.

The Muncie Civic Center Authority Board did not approve the 2025 Horizon Convention Center Budget, proposed by Joann McKinney, just days before she was terminated by the DAC Board.  Jessica Piper of the CCA said reasons for the rejection included:  Not enough focus on funding capital projects, Concerns with the Catering Division operating in the red, additional full-time headcount, and amount of spending in general.  Piper wrote to Woof Boom radio News that the Budget is to be treated the same way as others, “Therefore, we’re working from the 2024 budget.”


Anderson University football is off this weekend, and have three tries remaining to add to their one win season – September 2nd, 9th, and 16th – the final two are at home.

Girl Scouts of the USA is more than doubling its annual membership fee over the next two years to reduce red ink. Dues will stay at $25 for the next year, but then rise to $45 for the 2026 membership year and then to $65 in 2027.


For those interested in learning more about utility solar, there will be a “Solar 101 Community Workshop,” from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24th at the Murpah Shrine Club in Muncie. Make a reservation to attend this event on the Muncie Journal website. Dinner will be provided. The workshop will be presented by utility solar experts from The Center for Energy Education, a nonprofit from North Carolina.


Red Ribbon Week starts today, and is the nation’s largest drug prevention campaign. The Delaware County Pride Team is visiting elementary schools this week to spread the message with skits and dancing.
