Delaware County’s court-appointed recount committee will meet in public at 4:00 p.m. today to discuss the rules for recounting the Republican at-large county council, which starts at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.  Ryan Webb finished fourth in the May at-large race.


Former resident of Muncie and popular local vocalist, Myles Ogea, is revisiting Muncie to sing again with the America’s Hometown Band at Westside Park on July 25th.  7:30 p.m. with free and open to all, and the shady setting has plenty of lawn chair space for the audience.


Marching Band summer season – Richmond won one, Anderson won another, and Muncie Central won two – including their own on Saturday night!  The contest season all leads to State Fair Band Day, Friday, August 2nd.  Kokomo is the defending champion.  


The theme for last week’s Indiana Black Expo Muncie Chapter 29th Annual Corporate Luncheon was “Educate. Empower. Elevate.”   In a social media post, the group shared some of the memorable moments:  heavy hearts when WaTasha Barnes Griffin asked for a moment of silence and remembrance for the passing of the dedicated community activist Dee Harris, but there were also inspirational and energizing parts, provided by Rhonda Ward, the keynote speaker Dr. Mia D. Johnson, Dorica Watson and the children of Representation Matters.  Yvonne Thompson was honored with the 2024 Beatrice Moten Foster Community Service Award.


Republican Vice Presidential Nominee JD Vance is scheduled to visit Fort Wayne, this Wednesday. Allen County Republican Party Chairman Steve Shine confirmed to IndyStar the visit and said specifics of the appearance are still being solidified.

Weekend shooting in Anderson. Reporter Bret Busby heard that near 1:00 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a large gathering blocking a road and fighting in the 2200 block of Arrow Avenue near Tracy Park. Moments later, multiple gunshots were heard. Anderson police found several people shot, with two in serious condition. This year’s Faeries, Sprites, & Lights celebration at Minnetrista will be July 25th through July 27th.  5:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily, with a special sensory-friendly event on July 27th from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.  Kids are encouraged to come dressed in their best magical faerie attire as they imagine and play in a faerie wonderland. WLBC’s Garry Joseph will be Live Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. – his outfit has not been disclosed.
