Residents who have been fighting back against a proposed roofing materials factory in Anderson won a major victory this week after the city’s mayor sent a letter to the community announcing he was putting a stop to the project. The Malarkey Roofing Company was planning to build a massive factory, producing shingles on more than 100 acres of farmland just south of I-69.
