IU Health Blackford Hospital will close its emergency department and no longer offer “inpatient care services,” officials said this week. According to the Star Press, those in need of emergency medical treatment in Blackford County will be sent to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie or IU Health Jay Hospital in Portland, both more than 20 miles from the hospital in Hartford City.
