Plans Approved For Jail Construction

A preliminary plan to spend $50 million dollars on a 500-bed jail in Delaware County was approved Tuesday. That boils down to $50,000 per bed, what Commissioner James King calls a bargain compared to earlier cost estimates of $100,000 per bed. The project, once underway, would be one of the biggest since the Justice Center opened in 1992.
