Muncie’s police chief has resigned. Steve Stewart submitted a brief letter of resignation to Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler on Monday. Tyler says Deputy Chief Mark Vollmar will remain in that position until the mayor can decide who will replace Stewart, who was the chairman of Tyler’s campaign for mayor in 2011. Neither side will publicly confirm details surrounding the resignation.
