Its Muncie’s third homicide in five days: It happened early Wednesday in the 700 block of South Hackley Street. 23-year-old Eddie Demarcus Phillips was pronounced dead in the ER at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. The 20-year-old Muncie man who shot Phillips was questioned by police and released. They say it appears to be a case of self-defense.
