It’s a creepy case of theft: An area mortician, whom police say stole a ring off a dead man’s finger, was handed 20 days in the Randolph County jail. 65 year old Gregory Thayer of East Franklin Street pleaded guilty. He’s also ordered to serve 40 days of home confinement. Police say the crime happened after mourners left a graveside service at Winchester’s Fountain Park Cemetery in July of last year.
