A 64-year-old Anderson man will plead guilty to using false identities to obtain fraudulent tax refunds totaling about $238,000 over three years. According to the proposed plea agreement, Dwayne S. Peak allegedly participated in a scheme where identity theft victims had tax returns prepared in their name and the refund was deposited into several bank accounts that Peak controlled. The Herald Bulletin reports that Peak profited from the receipts of 21 fraudulent tax refunds from the years 2012, 2013 and 2014.
