The son of an elderly Randolph County woman who authorities say never left a chair in her home for three months after breaking her hip has received a Jan. 23 trial date. 54-year-old Philip Weimer, of Lynn, is charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent. He was arrested after police determined Weimer’s parents were living in “deplorable” conditions in the family’s home. The Star Press reports that both senior citizens were admitted to Reid Hospital in Richmond.
