City officials in Fort Wayne are proposing a budget for 2017 that would include money to hire 28 new police officers. Mayor Tom Henry said Thursday that the proposed $158 million budget is a sign that the city is moving in the right direction. The department now has more than 440 officers and aims to have more than 460 by mid-2017.
