Madison County’s unemployment jumped two-tenths of a percent, which mirrors the rise in the state rate from July to August. The unemployment rate for the county rose to 4.9 percent in August over July’s rate of 4.7, according to data released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. But those job losses were nearly offset by growth in service; transportation, warehousing and utilities.
