Flash flooding Sunday night dumped an estimated 2.5 to 3 inches of rain in Muncie. City officials warned residents to avoid the south side of the city due to severe flooding, with downed power lines and fallen trees. The Madison underpass was flooded and the Muncie Fire Department engaged in multiple water rescues of people trapped inside their vehicles stuck in high water. The Street Department handled about 10 calls for trees in roadways. Mansfield Park on South Eaton Avenue was opened for those displaced from their homes.
