The Muncie Fieldhouse, an icon in basketball history since 1928, needs a lot of work to be deemed structurally safe. The building has settled in many places, which affects the flooring, the interior men’s restroom walls and bleacher seating. Superintendent Steven Baule says an estimate just received is significantly lower than previous estimates, about a quarter of a million dollars. And that’s just to get it to be safe. There’s other work that needs to be done. The school Board will have to decide what to do, and soon.
