An Anderson man will spend the next 50 years in prison for shooting two people last summer before he was shot by police. The man, Atul Navalo, pleaded guilty but mentally ill and declined to enter a statement at the sentencing. He shot two men on East 36th Street on July 3rd then was shot by Anderson Officer Shad Grile, who received the Medal of Valor, Life Saving Award and Combat Cross for his response to the incident.
