Police motorcycles surrounded a hearse carrying the body of fallen Howard County Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Koontz. Dozens of police vehicles escorted Koontz from the Marion County Coroner’s Office back to his home in Howard County Monday. Koontz was killed late Saturday when he was serving a warrant in Russiaville. Investigators say the suspect, 25-year-old Evan Dorsey, shot Koontz and his partner Sgt. Jordan J. Buckley, then shot himself and died. Sgt. Buckley was released from IU Health Methodist Hospital yesterday afternoon. Funeral arrangements for Koontz are pending.
