A new snow plow and salt truck caught fire while parked in the street department’s garage this morning, destroying the vehicle and causing damage to the building. The Western Star truck had not been driven in several days. Witnesses say they heard a loud sound before flames came from under the hood. There are four other trucks just like it in the fleet, causing concerns about other possible fires. The truck cost $140,000.
