A Muncie woman has been handed a four-year prison sentence in the overdose death of her mother. Amanda Pratt had pleaded guilty in December to reckless homicide after she injected 54-year-old Penny Kerr with a prescription pain-killer, shortly before she died. The woman’s family says Kerr had become addicted to street drugs to cope with chronic pain. Pratt insisted that she would never hurt her mother, but that she only did what her mother had asked her to do.
