Whatever the Delaware County Bomb Squad blew up yesterday on White River Blvd. looked suspicious, but it wasn’t a bomb. A black device with a microphone and wires hanging from it and emitting high-pitched beeps was found on a bench Monday afternoon. The road was closed for a couple of hours. The Bomb Squad responded and blocked off the area, deployed a robot to blow it up, but that apparently failed. Finally, a bomb squad member dressed in protective gear was able to place a charge near it and it was destroyed. No word today on what the bomb squad thinks it was, or who may have placed it there.
