The first fatal crash of the new year claimed the life of a Marion woman on Saturday. Rebecca S. Scott died the day before her 63rd birthday after a crash on I-69 near the Grant-Delaware county line. Her vehicle hit the median wire retainer and spun back onto the interstate. She was able to drive herself to a rest step and called police. EMTs took her to a Muncie hospital for back pain. The coroner said Scott suffered a ruptured spleen.
